Hollowed-out afternoon

A very hot summer day walk around Frensham Little Pond Farnham in Surrey. We got lost and the walk turned into a much longer tedious ‘yomp,’ the afternoon heat dragging us down. The title comes from Philip Larkin’s “Afternoons’ in which he bemoans the tedium of life.

Indeed the forest lost its romance for us that afternoon!
